Poster Project is an outdoor public art intervention and subsequent installation that questions how we as citizens can be actively engaged in the building of community. The process encourages public exchange in the streets free from corporate influence.
I translated twelve stories I had collected in the street from strangers into posters and guerilla pasted them over three super-sized Ikea ads. The text on my posters challenged the perception that advertisements must provide instruction or deliver a message to buy a product. The posters invited contemplation in their communication of wellbeing from people in the community.
My posters lasted for only 24 hours before new Ikea ads were pasted over top.
